A Writing Program for Every Child: WWD and Special Education

Amber with Jackie Bailey-Moss, Dir. of Special Education & the English Learner Program.

This week, our founder Amber was at the LRP’s National Institute conference for special education. And during her visit, she met with numerous educators, as she spread the word about Writing with Design.

So, we knew this was the perfect time to talk about why our writing program is the right fit for special education. You’re going to love these facts about WWD!

  • Writing with Design isn’t just another writing program. In fact, key areas of the program were crafted by students with disabilities. What this means is that the WWD program considers real input from real students in special education programs.
  • Our founder Amber, in addition to being a phenomenal writer and scholar, was also a special education teacher. Her experiences in special education helped inform the creation of Writing with Design every step of the way.
  • The WWD writing program was put together so that it meets young writers where they’re at. This means that they can launch into improving their writing from Day #1, whether they have writing experience or are just beginning the process.
  • WWD is for every student. Our classrooms are filled with young writers with diverse backgrounds, and we’ve built our program with that in mind. For special education students, Writing with Design is an excellent match for strengthening their writing skills and giving their unique voice a place to be heard.

And we’re happy to show you just how amazing the WWD program is for your class or school. How can you learn more? Let’s connect!
