Let Your Thank You Fill the Room
And we mean fill it up with a loud, powerful sound. It shouldn’t be any other way.
As teachers and educators, we’re called upon to serve a unique, and sometimes challenging role. But in finding opportunities to show our gratitude every day-- gratitude for our students’ ideas, passions, and yes, even their questions-- we’re creating an environment where our students can also feel empowered. It’s our choice to be grateful for how challenging it can be, and how it calls on us to be better stewards of critical thought and inquiry, year after year.
Of course, in filling the room with our voice as we say thank you, we shouldn’t drown out any one student’s song. Instead, we should allow them to join us in a harmonious sound of positivity and confidence. Through this, we’ll all find a place of respect, recognition, and inclusion as we tackle even the most difficult questions and challenging subjects.
And for that, we can all be grateful.
